The Aji White is one of the five domesticated pepper species. They are a variation of the Aji Yellow pepper which was the first pepper variety of pepper developed in Finland (Aji pepper’s origin is generally tracked back to Peru and/or Andean Region in South America).
The Aji White is an hybrid that was developed in Europe and belonging to Solanaceae or Nightshade family. Also known as Aji Sparkly White and Aji White Crystal, these peppers are an improved variety derived from the Aji Chili Pepper, selected for their sweet, juicy flavor, thick, crunchy texture, and ability to be grown in containers.
It grows on a small but prolific shrub that reaches up to one meter in height.
The fruit tends to be relatively pungent, with mild spiciness ranging 5,000 to 10,000 SHU on the Scoville Heat Unit scale.
Aji White are rich in vitamins C and A, which are antioxidants that can help build collagen and improve skin complexion. They also contain potassium, magnesium, copper, phosphorus, and iron.
